The Ted Nixon Collection
0f the 1870-1897 Small Queen Issue

Eastern introduced this collection as follows:

"We are pleased to present the Ted Nixon Small Queen collection. In this special catalogue we have organized the lots by denomination, with proofs, imperforates, plate imprints, stamps and finally covers appearing together for each value.

It has been many years since a collection as extensive and well rounded as this has come to the market.

The Small Queens issue has long been one of the most widely collected and studied of all Canadian definitive issues. With a life of over twenty-five years and the resulting varied printings with changes in shape, paper and perforation, the issue is a challenging one to master.”

We now present some of the highlights from the collection.

Comments

This has been one of our longest reviews and yet it hardly scratches the surface of this amazing collection. Our congratulations to Ted Nixon for having worked so hard and with such skill in putting together this specialized collection. We liked the idea that so many of the stamps came from other well known collections and the names of their owners continue to appear in the provenance of subsequent owners.
